Yesterday's opening line was from A S Byatt's The Virgin In The Garden (which I've just finished).

It's the words malice aforethought that really make you want to know more...

Today?

I had a farm in Africa, at the foot of the Ngong Hills.

Author?

Title?

And who starred in the film....

Phew, what a relief. I know this one, Isak Dinesen (Karen Blixen), Out of Africa. Starring Robert Redford, Meryl Streep and Klaus Maria von Brandauer.

I love this book, and the film, do you?

It is not often I like both book and film, with these I do. Your quote reminded me of a book of letters by Karen Blixen (Letters from Africa 1914-1924 - Dutch Translation) I have, still unread. It will fit into my 2013 reading 'nature and landscape' project perfectly.

I loved both the film and the film score. In fact, I bought the soundtrack - the Mozart piece is still in my favourite music top 10. When I hear it played, in my minds eye I can recall the shots of Africa taken from the plane ... am there already ... Freda, thank you for a lovely and peaceful moment at the end of a busy busy day :)
