You are right - it was a golden day yesterday - and from the sound of the weather forecast for the coming week I'm glad I made the most of it. There were the last of the summer butterflies fluttering about also making the most of the sunshine - they were so late in coming this year that I have appreciated each and every one of them.
We were so lucky to get these glorious hot days for our event - we managed lunch outside which is when I took this. I hope you enjoyed Norfolk.
I keep account in my nature diary when I see the first and the last butterfly in the year and my last one was two weeks ago, even though the weather here has been really nice. Seeing this one made my day.
We have seen very very few butterflies this year. Our swallows have just left - the sky is emptier and quieter.
It is so beautiful, we saw a few butterflies still flying around over the weekend too.
I spoke to a visitor to the studio who has had a plague of white butterflies (in Fife) this summer. They caused a lot of damage.
