Are you with me on this? Have you started on your wardrobe? Are you there Laura? Doreen? Anyone else?

Have you got rid of everything that was in there (see 22nd June) that you can't wear/don't want to wear/have accepted was a mistake? (be kind - forgive yourself and move on....)

Have you now got in your wardrobe:-

  • only clothes that fit
  • things that are clean, pressed, ready to wear now
  • things that you feel happy  in
  • colours that suit  you
  • things appropriate  for the time of year
  • something for each of the things you are likely to do in the next week or two (if not, start a list  of what's missing - find a nice little notebook - you'll be using it a lot)
Give away, throw away, and/or store in another place, all the rest - good idea to do this now, today - I'm off to do it right this minute....

Sorting out my wardrobe? Great idea - I know it makes sense...that I will have more space....nothing that's not ready just to take out and put on....a sense of real pleasure when I open tha wardrobe door... a simpler life... BUT (you knew there was a but coming, didn't you?) it all requires so much energy and decision making. My wardrobe is very full but so is my brain just now and one must be cleared out before I can tackle the other. Which one will be first I wonder? lol.

I did it, I cleared out everything (actually before I had read your blog)

I have put on quite a bit of weight and got thoroughly sick of sifting through everything that doesnt fit to find something to wear each day.
The energy I wasted every day just getting dressed is now mine again.

I emptied my wardrobe and a set of chester drawers! onto my living room floor, got the bin bags ready at the end of the settee and put on a dvd.
PILES - 1) SIZES 8 and 10 to Charity shop, because it will look great on someone else, and if i'm ever that size again I will celebrate with new clothes.
2) SIZE 12 keep it if i love it if not charity shop it.
3) FITS, maybe not perfectly but I can still zip it up and breathe!
4) BIN, suprisingly little in this pile but the jeans with no a**e HAD to go(heehee)
When I was finished I put it all on hangers and hung it in the wardrobe. Heather had a look and said "Gok Wan says 18 items of clothing is plenty mum, it's called a capsule wardrobe!"
I'm pretty sure he didnt have these clothes in mind though. I am left with 2 sets of gym clothes(underused)
4 nasty uniform tops for work
1 pair of jeans that fits and 1 that I can just zip up and still breathe in
And a handfull of tops.
It's so easy to get dressed in the morning lol
Now i just have to find the time to shop, and a friend to come with me for an honest opinion.
