..Venice!

I have reached the final words of Peter Ackroyd's Venice Pure City  -

..vivacity, gaity, radiance, extravagance, energy, buoyancy, spontaneity, urgency, facility, exuberance, impetuosity. Oh! Venezia!

Who wouldn't be excited?

Here is another Fortuny garment I'd love to wear, and if you scroll down you will see the most dazzling selection of Fortuny gowns.

Have you heard of this artist and his Chandeliers Over Venice project? (This is for you Lotta!) There are lots of videos on Dale Chihuly and the full story here. Allow yourself an hour or three if you really love glass!

Thank you Freda! I'm a big fan of Chihuly - I love the extravagance of his work, and his use of colour - I've yet to see any of it in person though, but I'd love to see the Chihuly Garden one day and also the bridge of glass. There are so many different ways to work with glass (my current work is with glass, but not blown and not on that scale!) and endless possibilities... So many ideas, so little time! Oh, apparently I do have ideas!!!

Did you make the beautiful little trees?

Yes :-) (blushing!)
Also, slightly off the Venice topic, but where garments meet glass, the glasswork by Markow and Norris, especially their woven glass kimonos is amazing... http://wovenglass.com/portfolio/autumn-sunset-kimono/

Out of sequence here - I hope you catch this Lotta. Where can I see your work? Do you have a website? Etsy shop? Whatever?

The kimonos are amazing!

I've got nothing online at the moment Freda. I've needed to keep things simple just selling locally for the last few years, but I'm hoping to get at least some things online this year, so I'll keep you posted!
Glad you liked the kimonos - I've been fascinated by them since I first saw them.

I've been fortunate to have seen Chihuly's work in London, Chicago and Montreal. I particularly like work where he integrates his pieces with surroundings, but introduces pops of colour; the works that evoke the sea and seashells are also beautiful.

I love seeing what's possible with various materials, and glass is one of my favourites. The glass kimonos at Lotta's link above are also fabulous. Looking at the photo, they look like some kind of luminescent fabric.

I hope you have a chance to visit Murano, Freda.

Some astonishing things today! I have only seen the chandelier in the entrance to the V&A in London.
