Red and green of course....so gather together all your red and green bits and pieces.

But for flowers at this time of year I like white. Last year I had roses (see under Simply Christmas 6 Jan ) this year a £4 supermarket bunch of alstroemeria and £1.50's worth of gypsophila and a lot of free birch branches in glass look wintry and romantic (well, in my eyes anyway) and will last for ages.
I think the proportion of the branches to the flowers makes this look generous and special - lots of branches and taller and wider than the flowers. It's easiest if you put the branches in first.
Silver is the other colour I like to use. I don't have a lot of things silvery, but they all come out at Christmas (out goes minimalism too!). I was going to spray the branches silver, but then I thought that was a bit too much....
