I've been thinking about why I am feeling particularly reluctant to accept that summer is over this year. I thought it could be just that here in UK it's been the wettest since records began in 1912, but have decided it's really because I haven't got half the things done which I had planned to do this summer.

I do live with a totally unrealistic mental 'to-do' list I have come to realise..

Had hardly any picnics, I didn't clear out the shed, or make the new gate, or get the chimney stack repaired, or the handrail on the back steps renewed or sell the boat (or even get out in it) or..or..take a trip on the Waverley!

..

but here comes autumn's particular beauty....

still time for all those before it gets too cold...
Autumn picnic - has to be when sun is at its height.
And it sounds like time for a ta-da list - to celebrate all the things you DID do, especially the unexpected ones

Thank you for your encouraging words Lynne. I shall get some nice food ready for the first sunny day, and I shall definitely do a ta-da list - wonderful idea!

Thank you for leaving a comment - I am pretty excited at discovering your blog - I came over for a peek - and what do I see - the Waverley - and I cannot believe you live in the area where we sailed in 2010 up through Loch Long with me in positive ecstasy both about the view and the boat. I love the Waverley - the polished brass, the engine room, the posting box and yes even the quirky toilets!!! When I am sat in the little upstairs cafe I feel like Poirot is going to come through those doors. Last year we went to the Isle of Arran and was devastated this year when we couldn't make a trip because of the weather. I have to go now but I will be back to browse around your interesting blog some more - looking at your categories list you seem to have got your mind ordered in a way I am never able to - I am all over the place but it is encouraging to see creating order is certainly a possibility!! I even have some of the memorabilia - the globe shaker, the china mug and the little plaster cast of the Waverley to remind me during the long winter months of our special days out. Look forward to your posts always on the look out for inspiration on getting more organised.
