 ..the prototype!

I am looking for a nice deep wooden box or crate to store kindling in, and to make an art work of the wood pile.

(Wish I'd scrubbed out the bottom of the plastic box - but hey - the real countryside is a mucky messy place at this time of year.)

I also have ideas for those nice pieces of bark.

A token gesture in the face of woodpile/artworks like these I know, but it stopped raining today and the sun came out and it was fun.

Hi Freda,

Your woodpile looks lovely and rustic. It`s as beautiful as all your surroundings are. The chipmunks, squirrels and all the other creatures in your environs must love it.

I hope you`re continuing to get a break from the rain. I`m starting to feel SAD settle in and am trying to combat that. All the more because the last few years have been very difficult with deaths and illness in the family. I`ve had my own difficulties as well with being treated poorly by people associated with my employer. It`s never-ending and beyond nerve-wracking. I wish they would leave me in peace and allow me to be treated equitably -- the same way they expect themselves and their buddies to be treated. At the moment it is not so. It`s beyond ridiculous and into the realm of abuse.

Great idea!! So many logs here after all the tree felling and they're scattered all over the place... I shall put my thinking cap on.

You must have a lovely lot of logs to play with!

can't wait to hear your ideas for the bark, freda...here's what our daughter-in-law did. she soaked bark in water till it was pliable and then she lined clear column-shaped vases with it for the floral arrangements on her wedding tables.

That looks like fun! Log stacking is one of my favourite garden jobs - there's something really satisfying about it. Love all the woodpile artworks - given me some ideas! If you can't find a box/crate maybe you could make one out of pallet wood or something... Look forward to seeing the finished effect!

I have in mind a wine crate, but I think they may have become 'collectable' ie expensive. The quince have lost their scent now by the way...

Thanks for remembering about the quince!
