..today on the Sound of Shuna and on the way home, on a brisk cold walk between buses, a shot of the leaning Christmas Tree out on the end of the Coal Pier. It is so exposed. I wonder if it will stay upright till Christmas....

It is a blessing to have so much beauty just on the doorstep even slightly wonky Christmas trees. I pass one on my journey to work and after a windy night I always wonder if it will be at a new jaunty angle . It still gives me lots of joy though.

I hope they both survive the storms that are forecast!

They run in all weathers - very rarely cancelled. Would be lost without them here!

Some very touching pictures here, the first especially. What it is to be alive. Love the composition of the second, the branch parallel with the metal rail...I can just feel how cold that silver bar is. Thank you.

The reflection in the water was so vivid.

I know 'sound' has a different meaning but looking at the photographs I found myself wondering about the sounds of Shuna. Gentle lapping, the ship's horn sounding maybe.

One of the sounds as it casts off is the recorded safety message 'Wel0cme aboard Western Ferries.......Should you have to abandon ship, the liferafts will be launched. Lifjackets are carried for all on board.'....We all know it off by heart. As must the people in the houses at the terminals.

Stunning light! And colours too, especially your second pic. There's that clarity of light you only get on the coast. It always lifts me. Love the Christmas tree... no prizes for guessing the direction of the prevailing wind! Please keep us updated on its status...
