On a different subject, do tell me, has being made to feel guilty ever made you alter your behaviour for the better?
The preparation is all-important.. Charge up the cordless tools - a hedgetrimmer and a small strimmer for edging. I am taking Carol Bruce's advice to heart. She says 'With the right tools and methods it is not difficult to manage a garden on your own.' I do get occasional help with the grass and the hedges, but Jim couldn't come and everything is growing so fast.. Charge myself up with a protein breakfast. Set up the coffee for laer. And the hammock! I have some pleasant company. 15 minutes with the lawnmower, 15 minutes in the hammock. I have arthritis in my shoulders but I can get through a few hours this way (I actually use a timer!). Works for me. View from the hammock. Every cloud has a silver lining. It rained in the afternon, so I eased my long-Covid aches and pains with a daytime bath which feels great.

That is an excellent way to garden and I hadn't thought of actually setting a timer to stop and make sure I start again.

When I am gardening I can lose all sense of time and work until I ache! So the timer helps me pace myself. I am curious about whether guilt is ever helpful..

Love the yellow shoelaces, Freda. I am trying my luck with some succulents since I am in South Texas. Also have some new plants in the house. Does anyone use Grow Lightbulbs in the house?

The shoelaces are some nice yellow string I came across! It will be interesting to know if anyone has tried those lights. We live in such different climates!

What a godsend your blog is. Everything practical, sensible and cheering. May not seem like that to you, but that's the message I/we get.

Thank you for that lovely comment Rosemary. I do have doubt about it quite often, as you can imagine. And what I love this blog. It’s an important part of my life. X
