We have these stores called TK Maxx which sell ends of lines, the most incredible kitch, italian and chiese foodstuffs, very torn jeans (shredded in faat) and some high quality brands at very reduced prices. An amazing place to wander in as they sell absolutely everything! In the spirit of treating the commercial world like a museum I occasionally go in for a browse..

I found this lovely towel

which is reversible

and this pretty plate.

I also got a new shower curtain and felt very happy.

Your haul is very restrained and fun at the same time. Oh, I love this idea of treating them like museums! That is brilliant. I hadn't realised but that is what I do with the shop "Paper Tiger"; it's full of the most amazing collection of pointless things at low-low prices. Great fun to look around. Honestly even more fun to walk out without having acquired any more clutter. I feel somehow lighter for leaving it all behind.

Ooops! not "Paper Tiger" (Edinburgh) which is lovely but "Flying Tiger" which is what I meant.

The architect Frank Ghery used that phrase about how to look at the world of commerce. I’ve never forgotten it. Tiger is a fun shop and I sometimes allow myself a fiver To spend in there! Please note I am dictating this and the machine is pin capital letters where they are not required. So annoying!

Yes, browsing through TKMaxx can be very like looking at exhibits in a museum because in among the objects of desire are often items which make me think " Who on earth designed this and who did they think would wear it ?" But they do make me smile. I think of it, and charity shops, as more like a treasure hunt sometimes you are lucky but many times not. Love your towel 😍

Lovely things acquired that will be put to good use. I love white pottery and have a collection that I use all the time for flowers and it brings me such pleasure simply to gaze at.

I once stayed in the house in Stockholm where almost everything was white. I’ loved it.
