Thinking about a poppy bed as attainable only if I had a bigger garden, I remembered the two herb beds I've just cleared....

I could have one herb bed, and one poppy bed.

Yes!

Not very big but big enough for my three favourites and a 'Cedric Morris' and a 'Patty's Plum' with annual poppies to follow the oriental ones.

Spray painted the metal table and chair back to the original colour.

Ran out of paint!

Isn't that always the way! Happens to me every time I re-spray the wood burner. I always think I can get away with just one can...
What fun to have a dedicated poppy bed to plan... and poppy red furniture to match!

You're giving me ideas...! The red table and chairs are already in place and you've reminded me now about the poppies we've always admired ;)
We actually spent this morning discussing with the gardeners about things we want doing and to do over the summer for a viewing in September, where our little washhouse will be open to the public for a day honouring small, protected auxiliary buildings in our town...a first for us. Planning is fun though lol.

What a lovely thing to be part of. I am sure you will enjoy it, as will your visitors and it certainly motivates you to get those things done that you have been thinking of for ages. i look forward to hearing about it Swissrose.

say yes to more poppies! will they be close to the red chair/table? striking arrangement if they are...otherwise striking on their own.

I may have to move them closer when the poppies are in flower - of course that won't be till next year now. Plenty time to plan the details.
