A very sweet thing happened today - a tiny coal tit sat on my hand.
And I got an early Christmas present of an owl box!

Two lovely surprises in one day! Coal tits are probably the most frequent visitors to our garden. I didn't think they could be that tame. My husband spotted the mystery animal in our garden again. We think it is a house/stone marten.

What an acknowledgement from a small bird: a meeting of souls.

What a beautiful bird. Looks a little like the chickadee here in the US. I so enjoy watching the wildlife that comes to our neighborhood. Birds squirrels raccoons opossums here in Texas. Also get deer and coyotes close by.

Chickadee is a lovely name. You do have a wide variety of creatures.

i agree with susan that it looks like a chickadee, so i went investigating. coal tits & chickadees are related & belong to the tit family. it wasn't a deep dive for me...this was as much as i needed to know. chickadees are my favorite bird. we had a birdbox right in front of a window & watched multiple nests of fledglings make their way into the world. it never got old.

How lovely! We also have great, blue and long tailed tits - all delightful to watch. I will clean up the bird boxes in time for spring.

Truly magical. Definitely highly symbolic of something good about to happen but maybe in a slightly unexpected direction? So you were looking to the robin for connection but...

What a lovely thing to happen. You set out to tame a robin but it was a coal tit that made you its friend. They are full of character and enchanting to watch though I am not so fond of their habit of throwing all the other seed out of the feeder to reach the sunflower seeds. It makes the pigeons happy though.
