        Wreaths on doors are a lovely tradition and far more common in England than in Scotland But here is one SCottish one (mine). Made uesterday inspired by all the lovely ones I saw in York city and in North Yorkshire towns and villages where Christmas felt like being in an old fashioned Christmas card. So pretty! So English! Enchanting, which was my word for 2019.  Do you have one? Are they the custom where you live? I do hope you enjoyed Christmas. I am thinking of my word for next year....

A lovely selection... of wreaths AND doors! I like the lightness and playfulness of yours. It feels like a welcome to the new year one. I did make some this year, but not for me! Some hazel and willow ones for friends and some icy glass ones to sell (for hanging in a window not on a door!). My only decorations this year were fresh flowers which I’ve loved.

Such lovely wreaths and lots of different ones. I made one for front door and one for inside of back door. I sometimes have to stop myself twisting pruning into yet another wreath. Yours is lovely, Freda, and very original.

They are fun to make. I usually make the base when I cut back the golden hop by the door but it is still hanging there and of course no longer pliable. It will be a much longer job to cut it down now!

I do keep a wreath on my front door year round. Made it several years ago out of twisted vine and a very few embellishments. It seems to work for all seasons against the dark red door so haven't bothered to change it out. I love the whimsy and lights of your wreath--especially the lavender and fuschia colours against the yellow door.

The lavender is a bit of a trick of the twilight - I had sprayed the twigs with white paint...I have noticed it's more common to have wreaths at other seasons in USA.

Your wreath is lovely Freda. Did you spray it with colour, or is that just a trick of the light? I am travelling home from Ghent in Belgium today. There were many beautiful festive decorations on the doors, including a lot of mistletoe.

I didn't even pick up on the wreaths until Freda pointed them out. I was looking at all the different doors, thinking about a poster that was for sale a couple years ago of just all the different types of local doors & doorways. It was very nicely done & showed how diverse the homes are.

I have seen those posters Cathy, and loved them. There is one of fanlight windows - the kind you get above doorways in Georgian houses that I especially liked. The variety is fascinating.
