Simply..bittersweet February....

2/2/2017

On February first, a grey dreich day (there is no English equivalent for that Scottish word), I was about to settle down by the fire with a book when the sky brightened and I thought there must be a good photograph out there somewhere...

Here it is.

Not brilliant, but it got me up and out of the door. One of the things I love about sharing on the blog is that it does just that - makes me look beyond the end of my nose for things worth sharing. Something beautiful/simple/funny/interesting/moving - it reminds me that there are good things in my life every single day and makes me grateful and happier.

Dreich is such a good word - and you're so right about blogging, Freda.

Good for sharing recipes too Karen - I like the look of that cake.

Well worth going out for that picture Freda! I feel that way about blogging too, both on the sharing front and enjoying seeing what other people are sharing. Windows into the world from all around the world. I do miss your thoughts and everyone's comments when you're not here. You are a very good sharer of life. But time away is just as important too and I hope it's helping with the bittersweetness of February. x

P.S. On the sharing front I wonder if you've seen this?

I was thinking the same thing as Cornflower, dreich is such a great word. But I like your photo--capturing the sunlight over the far hills.

And speaking of looking beyond the end of your nose...and giving us a window onto the world, as Lotta suggested....what is that white block of something in the distance? From my seat, here in my kitchen in West Virginia, it looks like a freighter or a barge carrying something......:-)

Ah, you've spotted the blot on the landscape. It is Coulport Naval Base, of Trident fame..

Gosh! I had no idea...my head was obviously in the sand for all of that...but it reminds me that we are truly all in this together...for better or for worse...and you are making the world better, Freda.

I feel my mood lift before I register that the sky has brightened. And conversely unfortunately. So it's a bit drench (that was an auto correct from dreich but I'm leaving it!) down here too and I didn't go out, so thanks for going out for me.

Did not know the word dreich. It's actually a perfect fit for our weather these days. I definitely am more attentive when I'm blogging, that was one of the reasons that made me blog again (not sure if blog can also be a verbe, I think it should). Hope you find the best way to deal with Bittersweet February.
