The pre-Christmas gales blew down some sizeable trees in the forest across the road from my house, and the old fence stood no chance, but I realise this is nothing at all when I see the tragdy of the wildfires and the devastation in the war zones. It breaks your heart, doesn't it.

It is always so upsetting to see trees blown down though I tell myself it is a natural process. To be positive it will let in more light for other plants to grow and flourish. Still sad, though.

Much of my garden looks like the scenes in your photos. Clearing up the damage is a slow process. It is sad to have lost 'old friends ' but I'm looking on it as opportunity to replan and rearrange. Compared to the heartbreaking devestation we are witnessing on global news, it is of minor significance. Hope your gardening assistant is able to repair your damaged fence.

Such a lot of work if it is on your own land. The forestry commission will deal with this for me. But my fence which was pretty rotten, I will have to renew. I do admire your positive outlook.
