Simply..blown away....

..Well, not literally thank goodness! If you could choose what scary storm Dennis - or whatever wind is blowing in your part of the world - could blow away, what would it be?

I've just been out to blow away some cobwebs (sitting still far too long). It worked! Though I got back indoors and sat down again to write this!

But, I am going to bake, do some ironing and cleaning and some of the other plodding things which must be done, so that when the weather does improve I can be out in it getting some much needed exercise and vitamin D.

I would like storm Dennis to blow away my lethargy and low mood, all the flood waters, all lying politicians, all petty worries, all the junk lying along the motorway verges, all the misery of the people whose homes are flooded, all warmongers - I have no idea where it will all go but .....Blow yourself out Dennis! Unfortunately it is set to blow all night and all day tomorrow here.

I do hope you are not affected.

(February's not my best month. I expect you can tell?)

I'm thinking of you, Freda. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, through this month: keeping busy with physical tasks at home, until days when sun bursts through for a while, and you can run outside to the shore. (Or maybe, pole vault over your hedge to that luminous post, can of paint in hand!)

Spent today cleaning, ironing and cooking and yes, it really helps. So did the cinnamon toast for supper! Love the idea of pole vaulting over my hedge. Still chuckling at that image.

Perhaps a treat or outing scheduled for the middle of February would help it pass more easily. Would have to be local though so the weather couldn't interfere as that would just be more depressing. Uplifting music played very loud chase my blues away, something like Prokofiev 's 1st Symphony. Keep on keeping on, Freda.

Prokofiev to the rescue! Thanks Sheena. Meeting friends for coffee tomorrow, concert in Glasgow on Thursday (I hope) and a Family Feast next Sunday - all good, though weather dependent to a degree. You will be as glad as I am that the wind has eased.

Oh dear....you do sound down, Freda...i guess march cannot come too soon! I hope that your chores were helpful in sweeping the doldrums out of your head!

It's been horrible although not on the scale of hurricanes and typhoons there have been a few deaths. So sad.

Yes I've been really in the doldrums (all these literal and metaphorical weather references are so appropriate) I got to the bottom of the ironing pile - that helped!

Among other things on your mind and heart, the back to back weekend storms and nothing but rain does impair a good mood. Hope for a bit of clearing (maybe next week?) and a chance for you to get out and about.

Think Venice.

I thought that preparing for Venice would be enough of a project for February but have made a note to self that February needs a good project of its own. Thanks Mary.

Well you've covered a lot! But can I add petty rules and regulations and unnecessary hoops to jump through to the list of things to be blown away please? And I would like Dennis to blow IN a large waft of common sense and joy that filters its way across the country! What would you like it to blow in?

Hope you feel brighter soon Freda, it sounds like you need your own health and safety warning sign for February! x

Kindliness would be good. And yes to fewer hoops and less bureaucracy. Have been thinking of you in shropshire and Linda in West Wales when I hear the weather warnings.

Thinking of you Freda - I know how difficult this time of year is for you even in better weather. Hoping for some bright spots to shine through for you. Viv x
