The parcel arrived this afternoon..

Picture
Bigger than I expected...
Picture
Very well packed! Will I really like it?
Picture
YES! I do.
Picture
And I quickly found the right place....
I can't stop looking at it.
And smiling.

Still Life With Iris by Elizabeth Blackadder.

Wow! It is fabulous! Perfect in its new home! And Freda..good on you for clearing out what no longer sparks joy to allow room to welcome what does!
Have you bought on ebay before? Or was this a new stretch as well?

A very impersonal way to buy art. Yes, eBay is new to me Julia.

Perfect place and brilliant picture - I can see why you have chosen it. We have run out of wall space here as we have had to accomodate the art work we had at the cottage.

I don't know Elizabeth Blackadder, but I do have a print of a Samuel Peploe (you mentioned the Scottish Colourists the other day). It also makes me smile when I look at it. It's 'Still Life with Tulips' I love the bold shapes and bold colours. Another print I have which cheers me is Vermeer's 'View of Delft', I find the sun coming out after rain and the early-morning people going about their ordinary business uplifting. Life going on. I had a solitary Artist's Date at home yesterday reading for the first time 'The Small Boy and his Mouse' a poem by D H Maitreyabandhu. I found it puzzling at first, but once you get a clue it all opens up brilliantly.

Isn't it wonderful how art can lift your spirits? My Artist Date tomorrow is giving mysel a reading day too. Elizabeth and Her German Garden. I will look up your poem with the lovely title.

Thank you Rosemary & Freda, for reminding me that sitting & reading can be an artist's date, that i can do something gentle indoors rather than dramatic outdoors.
