If I sit on the edge of the bath with the window ajar I am on a level with the swallows' nest and I've been spending more time than I perhaps should watching the SIX baby birds...I think they may leave the nest tomorrow, and I might get some work done! I also bought a fun scarf. It's summer after all.

Some distractions are worth it ! Love the scarf. Our resident Blue Tits , Robins and Great Tits are all on to second broods which is very time consuming to watch and this year we have had the added distraction of a young spotted woodpecker being fed at the feeder near the kitchen window . Have had several burnt saucepans when my mind has been elsewhere!!

My DH spent an inordinate amount of time this spring watching a webcam directly over a bald eagle nest that was not far from where he works. He loved watching the two eaglets hatch and then seeing the parents work in tandem to protect and feed them. He even used to go by during his lunch hour to observe them in person (at a distance). Folks could comment on the webcam site and birders would give a play-by-play of what was happening so folks could learn about eagle behaviors with their young. He was happy to see them fly off, but also a bit sad, too. So you aren't the only one distracted by wildlife.

That sounds fantastic and I can understand feeling sad when they go too. We do like scarves Mary and I very rarely buy a new one, but this will be a summer favourite I think.
