Simply..Christmas cards...

Sometimes it seems everything has become an 'issue' or an ethical dilemma, but my position on Christmas cards has not changed since I wrote about them here, and here.

I love Christmas cards, the choosing, the giving and the receiving!

I know where the ones left over from last year are, but am trying to remember where I put the ones I bought recently...somewhere logical and safe of course, but where?

thank you, Freda....it's good to know i'm not the only one! my cards are ready to go, except for the few that need notes written to send with them. not much more on my to-do list but enjoy the season.

I'm just started (found those cards!) but it is a lovely task over a few evenings and listening to music. :-)

And another Christmas card fan here. I get immense pleasure from a lovely card and writing and receiving them makes me think of people I may not see very often. I consider the cost and the time as a small gift. Enjoy your cards, Freda!

I enjoy sending cards to family and friends I don't see often or at all. But I don't see the point in sending/giving them to people I see all the time or who live close by. That still leaves me with a good few to send and I like to enjoy the process and write personal messages!
I had to chuckle, as I have also had that moment of trying to remember and find the box of cards... not always with success. I had amassed loads but have now used them all up and have been out to buy some (so expensive here :o) and will be starting anon...

Agree with you Swissrose about not sending to those close by that I see frequently. Oh, there are a few exceptions but basically if you're close & get a card it's because I consider you "old". Just my own way of managing the list.

'Old' as in....elderly?

Found my cards in a (fairly) obvious place....I do enjoy looking for really good designs.

Hi Freda,

I too love sending and receiving cards. I particularly like sending a beautiful card to someone for no special occasion, just because I am thinking of them. The writer Alexandra Stoddard gave me this idea many years ago, and suggests always keeping a stack of beautiful cards, art postcards and stamps ready for the occasion when you might want to send a message. Being prepared means you might actually get around to doing it!

I have been known to stay awake half the night because of ethical dilemmas - where something was made, who made it, possible toxins - and sometimes there is no easy answer when you need an item but can't find one that satisfies your conscience. (think of the e-waste from computers and their embedded energy - but who can work and pay their bills these days without a computer?)

My husband used to send me beautiful and thoughtfully chosen cards.
Writing this blog has helped me so much to deal with ethical dilemmas - to think them through - and to decide that it is a waste of energy to give myself a hard time over them. I simply don't do that any more! But that is a subject for another post.....

I wish I had all my cards made or bought to even forget where I put them - I have sent most of them but need to buy or make a few more in the next day or two.
