And we got that afternoon tea which was a gift from last Christmas! A lovely treat.

That is a breathtaking photograph and, as you say, Edinburgh at its best. I am sure Scots take it for granted. So glad you did manage the afternoon tea.

Major General Alistair Bruce of Crainoch is perhaps best known as the Royal commentator for Sky News; and always makes such a wonderful job of such tasks as royal funerals and lyings in state.
He was historical advisor on Downton Abbey and several other feature films, such as the King's Speech. A member of the Scots Guards he served in Northern Irelan, the Falklands and Iraq, and remained a reservist while working for Merrill Lynch. A Colonel in the Territorial Army, - was appointed OBE for services to the TA - he was equerry to Prince Edward, and is godfather to his son Viscount Severn.
Other honours include being a member of the Royal Company of Archers (the monarch's bodyguard in Scotland) and one of the monarch's heralds, Fitzalan Pursuivant. He was appointed Governor of Edinburgh Castle in 2019,
He has written several books, undertook the only TV interview given by the Queen, lectures around the world, Uniquely talented and charming, and most definitely a good guy, he is a descendant of Robert the Bruce and is the highest ranking UK Army officer to have undertaken a same-sex marriage last year after being together as a couple for twenty years.
He has been a hero of mine for years; but you need to google him to get the full and unique story!

Thank you so much for that Liz. I didn’t even know Edinburgh Castle had a governor. Isn’t it amazing how much some people can achieve in one lifetime!

Leaves the rest of us trailing behind! But we all need people like this for inspiration. Must be awful to be good at everything!(Ah, if only.... :)
