Simply..'elf an' safety....

I did ask politely if the bright new health and safety notices could be on the other side of the poles?  Just a little bit lower so they were not visible from my windows? Maybe just below my hedge?

The two guys doing the job were very sympathetic 'They'll stick out like sore thumbs, won't they!' they said - which is the whole point I suppose. They explained the regulations patiently.

Rules is rules I guess.

I can sympathise... something has appeared outside one of my windows recently that I am not over the moon about either!
On the positive side it looks like the one in the top picture might get obscured by greenery sometime soon... :-) I’m not sure what the solution for the other would be... other than looking at it as a bit of sunny daffodil yellow in the landscape. Could you train your brain into thinking that someone has just planted some nice yellow flowering, tiny, rather angular bushes? (A step too far?!?)

I usually manage to see the positive side - it's just taking me longer than ususal! Thanks Lotta.

The people behind me have just doubled the size of their house and have added a garden room which is lurching within feet of my garden wall and my house. However, I'm approaching things from the angle that they are a nice family who have willingly done me more than one favour. Not so easy to wish those yellow notices well, but the men who put them up seemed concerned and kind. There's an ugly shed glaring at me through my living room window too; once I boiled with rage over it, but now I never notice it. I still sympathise with you though, Freda and wish you all calm and patience !

Thank you Rosemary! I know it's not a big deal really. In the grand scneme of things it is nothing at all but yesterday it didn't feel like that. I think I have been cooped up in the house too long!

We've had notices like that on posts, and found that they do fade well. Or you could try some yoghurt?

It did cross my mind Linda but I may just wait for them to fade....I would have to climb ladders to do it and as Laura may suspect, the neighbours may already think me a bit mad!

The first one seems to have been positioned to singularly warn YOU of the dangers of electrocution. Maybe they've seen you walk barefoot around the garden in the frost and think you might be about to try climbing the poles next?!

You may be right! They explained that the notices had to be visible from any direction from which they could be approached and I thought, but didn't say, 'Through my hedge?' Still laughing.

I wonder why they have only now been deemed to be necessary.
I once posted a picture of five pictorial hazard warnings on a railing by the beach. I think electrocution was the only one missing.
I would like a similar system in operation on cinema doors. No late arrivals. No early departures. No hissed running commentary. No texting. No scrunching munching and rustling. Nobody taller than 5’ 2” in front of me.

It would be fun devising symbols for all of those Lucille! Thank you for the much needed smile. x
