Simply..enjoy....

Enjoy the things that are around you says Philip Mould in one of the short films I linked to yesterday, so I have been moving things around a little, and bringing things out of cupboards to enjoy again.

Do you make changes as the Japanese traditionally do, with different objects for different seasons? I think I appreciate them all the more if I have not seen them for a bit, or if I put them in a different location, or a different light.  The little glass cube with the twirly stems has been on the top of a high bookshelf for years!

Have you any forgotten things which you might enjoy again if you move them into the light of day?

I do this all the time and enjoy swapping through my cupboard of bits and pieces, different styles and seasons, at least every month if not week. I love heavy glass, especially the Swiss brand Hergiswil (from near Lucerne) which is very modern, but other times I like using antiques that have been passed to us for safekeeping, too... Mind you, I reckon fairy lights go with anything :)

Your objects clearly bring you joy Swissrose I love the sound of the modern glass.

You have such a beautiful eye for composition. I am moving back to my hometown. In selecting things to move, I am only bringing those things that I really love.

We have a display table (actually the old toy cupboard) which I change every month or so - at the moment it has Easter eggs and a floral runner. The big seasonal changé is in my wardrobe - it takes about a week to wash / dryclean the heavy jumpers and coats and pack them into bags and suitcases, getting out summer clothes and ironing them. That way my clothes feel new to me - although I've had some since the 1980s.....

What a lovely ritual with your clothes, although I am sure timing is sometimes pretty tricky! How do you manage still to have Easter eggs?!

Freda, decorative eggs for the display! In full sun so not suitable for chocolate. Yes, timing the wardrobe change can be tricky. Easier now that son has moved out of the bedroom where I store things!

I'm glad you brought down that vase with the twirly stems. I really like it. Is it Scandanavian? I hope to put my house in order and do some seasonal curating when I retire. So many plans ...

The vase was a gift and I don’t know where it came from. How many days until you can start on all the lovely plans you have?
