Simply..exuberantly imperfect....

I just love that phrase from Chris Baty (see yesterday's link_.)

I am encouraged in my endeavours by Barry who sent me this card once.

Picture

It says Reach For The Stars and inside he wrote

'A woman's reach should exceed her grasp'. Keep reaching. (he underlined Keep reaching)

See here.

How could I not keep trying, however imperfectly?

(I can do the imperfect, but the exuberance eludes me at present. Does anyone know how you get it back?)

I think exuberance returns as the heaviness gradually lifts. Escaping a bit at a time from under the weight of grief. A bit like moving boulders in a river to let it flow more freely, the smaller stones being dislodged by the new surge until there are just a few pebbles left flowing with the river and the water is free to run its course, shaping all it encounters. That's how I picture exuberance returning. And it will, in all its glorious imperfection. :-)

Isn't that a lovely image? I think I partner enthusiasm with exuberance. That too has to be able to flow unchecked. All too often something comes along to block it.

Dear All, i think you, Freda, and Lotta and Lucille, are all three saying much the same thing..and here is my Yoga take on it. We all have a "story" going on, all the time, in our heads...and we are listening to it...we believe it...because the voice has always been there....i wonder if perhaps exuberance "descends" upon us, like grace...in a moment when for whatever reason, the story gets dropped...suddenly, the heart is able to open, if only briefly..and we glimpse that "this too shall pass." This is not at all to say that we ourselves are at fault....grief is a process..and a very precious one...just very hard to live through...one day, you will find exuberance again too, Freda....suddenly the clouds will part and the sun will be shining through.

First answer coming up immediately is: 'by reaching, not striving'.

One day exuberance will be there.
It might feel a little bit different now that life and loss is adding a layer to its depth. Yet it will be truly yours.

There is not much I can add to the wisdom of those who have spoken before me (Lotta, Lucille, Julia & Cath). When the time is right, you will simply have to allow yourself to open your heart and hands to "reach for the stars." Meanwhile, until that time comes, we--your commenters--will lift our "virtual hands" to hold you up, yes?

Grateful to Lotta, Lucille, Julia, Cathy and Mary for their good words when I have none. Following Mary's cue, I'm here lifting my virtual hands, believing that in the silver linings of imperfection and exuberance you're reaching much more than you imagine already.

Thank you my wise and kind friends. I think you are telling me I must be patient. :-)

I know I shall re-read these comments whenever I feel a bit low.
