Opening all the windows in the morning makes me feel more alive.

If it's cold or wet it may just be for a few moments.

On really hot summer days (we do get them occasionally!) the doors may stay open too.

I love that.

(Taking photographs for the blog makes me feel alive!)

What makes you feel alive in the morning?

These photos bring an immediate sense of FRESH air! I can almost smell the breeze, Freda...and how wonderful to open your home to fresh air and that glorious view..and doors too! I suspect the birds are singing also..:-)
Yes, open the windows, inhale the fresh air and some yoga stretches ...that makes me feel alive.

That is a spectacular view, Freda, and the temptation to just sit and enjoy it must be hard. I find, very prosaically, washing my face and brushing my hair always make me feel alive. Bit boring but on the plus side it happens every day.

It's the simple things Sheena! Free, easy, satisfying and you could do it without thinking but enjoying it is a lovely start to your day. That's mindfulness.

I am lucky to live where there is fresh air and it is safe to have doors and windows open. Yoga stretches also good Julia!

It's a way of counting our blessings too.

I love when there's a gentle breeze that wafts the curtains a little...

Your views look beautiful in the Spring light. I like to open my windows morning and evening for that fresh feel and the door was open all day yesterday... yay! An early morning walk before anyone else is up makes me feel alive.

Early morning walks (rare for me!) - a great way to start the day.

Windows and doors to the balcony are open here each morning in every kind of weather. Lovely (perspex) bird feeder you have.

A brisk walk in an autumn storm - not necessarily in the morning- is perfect for feeling alive. In the morning meditating while not having interfering (and letting go of) thoughts all the time makes me feel invigorated, clear and alive.

Sounds like a sane start to the day Cath, instead of world news or social media. The bird feeder is fun.

Definitely - windows open as I write, letting in the spring sunshine and airing the bedding (how very Swiss!! But not after 10 am lol)!

Your pictures remind me that UK windows open outwards, and I've noticed that Scandinavian front doors do, too - anybody know why this is, I've always wondered?!
In the rest of Europe, our windows open inwards and we can clean them ourselves inside and out, even on the top floor... ;)
I hasten to add that I love regional differences (like American door handles/knobs v. our usual type of handles, or self-locking doors in some places!)

Lovely to hear from you Swossrose and I do agree that all these little differences are fascinating (though I don't know why they differ so). Such a sensible idea of inward opening windows but what is different about door handles in America and Europe I wonder?

In the US they generally seem to be knob handles to turn, rather than handles that lever up and down... I've heard Americans wonder at ours! There's a YT channel my husband found where an American visits European building sites and buildings and oohs and aahs over our quality construction lol Rather pathetic, really, no wonder their houses burn or blow down so easily :o
Mind you, a lot of people wonder at the British thing of having a hot and a cold tap, no longer a thing elsewhere in the world ;) And then others are amazed to see our nuclear bunkers in almost every house!! (Not this one, as it was built in 1770, but it's a curiosity in Switzerland that it doesn't have a cellar - that was because it was built next to the millstream; same on the lakeside, the houses nearest the water don't have cellars... sorry, trivia got the better of me again!!)
