I do like Neil MacGregor's short pieces about museum objects. His 'History of the World in 100 Objects' was a fascinating, if rather unlikely, radio success.

Do you enjoy radio?

Radio 3 is a fairly constant companion for me as I drive or work in the house but I find it very difficult to just sit and listen.

I used to love the radio on long journeys. At home I listen to music early and late but rarely have it on between times.

Me too Freda - adrift that is. And to use a different metaphor, I wondered this morning if maybe it was anchor I was needing rather than compass... The ever-present but often elusive internal anchor rather than external direction, just yet anyway. The latter seems easier to find when the former is in place... Perhaps the chair buoy was trying to tell us something! I love that there's a big smile by your new tree!

An interesting idea that goes with Sheena's 'safe harbour' but I am still too restless somehow...the smile is my glass recycling bag!

I join you and Lotta in feeling somewhat unsettled these days. (Full moon?) Perhaps it is impending retirement--though I am very much looking forward to it--or perhaps it simply one of those ebbtides of life.

One of those ebbtides i suspect. I've always said I love empty space and silence - still do!

I envy you the little tree, Freda. It is a winner. I seem to remember it is not too fond of strong winds, so maybe needs a little sheltered nook. It will be beautiful next year!

We had a robinia Frisia once before and a really hard winter finished it off but I thought I'd risk another try it is so lovely with it's lime green leaves. It seems we are lucky with the quality of our radio in UK - I love Radio 3 best (sanity in a mad world!) with some Radio 4.

Coincidentally I came across this quote from Mark Twain on another blog yesterday.
