..on my list I wrote
Make Merry
think of a way.

Can you help me out here
because,
right now,
I can't think of a way!

I did write a little sign saying Merry and Bright but there's something wrong with my camera...
.

Camera working - Google knows how to fix everything!

I should add I can do comfortable, I can do content, and even happy much of the time, but 'merry' on my own seems an ask too far...

Apart from Making Merry there is being merry - in the sense of being tipsy from drinking a bit too much - will try not to go down that road!

Hopefully we can all be merry by Christmas? That's a big ask too this year.

I’ve just looked up various dictionary definitions. The one I liked best was the Macmillan one which said “ to enjoy yourself, especially with music, drinking, dancing.” I thought of one of the ballet exercise videos you used to do (may still do?) followed by a lovely meal on your beautifully laid table with a glass of wine. Making Merry on your own is a bit challenging though, I do appreciate that. Let’s hope we can make merrywith friends and family sooner than we think x

I looked up the meaning too Penny! I think this is one challenge I may fail (see addition to today's post). I am with you in that hope for merriment.
I still do the Scottish Ballet exercises sometimes but they are more yoga than dance. Thank you so much for your encouraging comments. x

Book a Skype call with a few of your long time "blog" friends at a suitable time for all.( I think it is possible to do a group?) Ask them to make a cake or cookies and "share" them on line? Watch a funny film? It is not easy during lockdown. If it is not too late to comment, I really liked the question, "will this make me stronger?" Hi to everyone, Liz N

Welcome Liz, it's lovely to find you here. Great suggestions too. Today there is brilliant sunshine and though it's not making me merry exactly, I do feel a lot more cheerful. I am not in strict lockdown in my area for which I should be more grateful! Thanks for commenting.

I do love reading your blog and find it full of wisdom and sense.
I must say I think maybe you are putting too much pressure on yourself in your attempt to make, or be merry at this time.
I think maybe it's better just to stick to trying to be calm and content at the moment. It's a very difficult time, and Christmas puts pressure on people at the best of times. It must be particularly difficult, getting through it on your own, but you are an inspiration to me in the way you look after your house and garden and always post such lovely, restful photos. Take care of yourself.

My list began as just a play on words and I am taking it far too seriously! I was always too serious.:-)
I don't need the pressure - but I do miss a bit of genuine 'merry' Thanks Gillian.

This definition seems to take the pressure off.
It fits with what you (and your blog chums) often describe experiencing in daily life:

Middle English mirie, from Old English myrge "pleasing, agreeable, pleasant, sweet, exciting feelings of enjoyment and gladness"

Now why did I always plan to call my next little cocker spaniel Merry...?! And then she was born just a tick before Christmas...
She is the epitome of any definition, I think, and makes me very happy :) - my own personal „merry“! What a wonderful thing... <3
(My daughter said, get two puppies and call them Merry & Bright!!! lol)

Simply..fourteenth....
