Simply..give give give....

Give because it makes you feel good!  I have heard that attitude criticised , but I don't agree that it is impure or less worthy. We are few of us saints, and if two people are happier - the giver and the receiver, so much the better I think.

Having just given myself yet another haircut - I am getting quite good at it - I thought I would donate what I would have spent on haircuts since my last professional one in February.

As well as cash (around ten billion pounds is donated to charities in uk each year)  we can give time, love, smiles, a hand, advice, support, attention, gifts.....or the benefit of the doubt. There are a million ways to give, and we are all giving, all the time.

It's one of the loveliest of human traits, without which let's face it we would not have survived, and it's especially touching from a young child. At a school fundraising fair at Heather's primary school I admired this little plastic necklace and she instantly bought it for me with her pocket money. It gives me a warm feeling in my heart every time I look at it and wear it.

I am enjoying working through my make it through list - it gives a different little focus to each day, at a time when all days can seem much the same!

How are you making it through?

And are your thoughts turning to Christmas?

I’m on “making an effort”” portion of the making-it-through list I live a very causal lifestyle even when we’re not on covd - no ball gowns for me. However, I realized yesterday that I’m so tired of wearing, tee shirt, jeans, sneakers. So today, I’m changing my top to a button-up shirt and wearing makeup(first time since March). Not going anywhere

But, as per Freda's jokes list, Gail, you may be 'hitting your living room at 8pm'!

We could all get dressed up and hit our living rooms at 8 pm tonight! ?

Oh well done Gail and thank you for sharing - I am also very fed up with the same clothes, in fact with the sameness of the days. I did for a while make a bit of effort clothes-wise for zoom sessions but that has fallen away.... Keeping up morale in these small ways could be vital for our well being couldn’t it? Sharing even more so, so thanks Gail.

I like your thought of giving ..the benefit of the doubt, Freda.

That may have been prompted by president elect Biden’s ‘Let’s give each other a chance’ comment in his victory speech..

I'm yet to listen to it!
But, I have listened to the newly released recording (never aired until now) of David Frost's interview with him in 1988 (available on iPlayer and presented by Frost's son).
I though ' I'd do a then and now comparison.
