Simply..happy and healthy....

...this December.  Christmas approaches and I've browsed through some of my earliest Christmas posts and got very nostalgic about the Christmas Tree Parties we used to have! See here and  here.

Inner -  Christmas is very different now. The family got bigger and bigger and the house stayed the same size so our main get-together is now is a Midsummer Picnic when we can spread out to the garden and the beach.,

I am looking for wrapping paper that I like. My sister made her own one year and was rather pleased with it until seven year old Paige said - Oh, you ran out of Christmas paper! when she received her present. You can't please them all..

Small gifts and big donations has been my habit for many years now, and family and friends know my minimalist tendencies! If you are not happy with giving and receiving too much unwanted stuff, perhaps it's time to have those tactful but honest conversations?

Outer -   I do buy cards (love sending cards!) and paper and some gifts from charities at Christmas. It's win win in my view though you might want to do some research into exactly how the charities benefit.

Winter would be longer and harder without Christmas to look forward to.

Our family has been blessed with materials goods, we have everything we need and have fully supplied hobbies. We don’t want anything. Yet, we still like gifting each other. So like your family, we give little gifts ( pound of coffee, socks,..) and donate to charities. We share why a certain charity is important. Thus, we get to know about what sparks a family member’s heart.

Asking about their favourite charity is a way of getting closer as well as making the gift more pleasing I should think Gail.

I had forgotten about the red socks tradition, freda! For a year or two, i followed it too, but we no longer make the huge trek cross-continent to be with our grands...it’s too hard in winter. We gift our family with experiences, like a family ski pass, or much needed repairs they might have on the back burner. Christmas day, we treat ourselves to a special table center of flowers and a special bird...maybe a goose! A frosty walk with the family...all feels very good.

Experiences are the best idea (tickets to the ballet this year) but it must be hard not to share them in person when such distances are involved.

I've just had a stall at a 3 day Christmas fair and was so immersed in full-on Christmasness (have I just invented a word?) that now it's over it feels like Christmas has been and gone... I was so startled today to find that the supermarket still had all their christmas stuff out!

On the subject of wrapping paper I have a friend who is so fond of his newly discovered bamboo toilet paper that he is planning to wrap all his Christmas gifts with it...

I hope you did well with your Christmassness stall Lotta and I wonder if your friend will let on whatt kind of paper he is using?

I think it's this one:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cheeky-Panda-Sustainable-Hypoallergenic-Bamboo/dp/B01JQS8BQG?

But this one is also great... especially the name... :-)

Having tried them both I would be happy to have a christmas gift wrapped in either!
