..but friendly.

I am so enjoying trying out new restaurants and coffee shops in Glasgow since my favourite closed. and I do like this one..

Rich in maritime history with walls covered in posters and photographs, the coffee is good and the affogato to die for!

And it is across the road from my bus stop.

Just every now and then I do treat myself well :-)

What way do you treat yourself well?

Thinking about it, I'm not sure that I do treat myself well at all. I was brought up in an 'essentials only' kind of way and have never found the knack.. I will be really interested to see what others put.

Oh you will have to practice Linda! Our childhood conditioning has such an influence doesn't it?

It does. I have a feeling that you would make an excellent personal shopper for me! (Just the little matter of several hundred miles apart!)

Lately, i’ve been really needing a nap in the afternoon..of course, i think i am much too young for this! But since i need it, i’ve decided to not feel guilty or ashamed that i do...the gift i am giving myself: acceptance. And the nap sure is wonderful...linda, you should try it!

I'm completely unable to sleep in the day, Julia, even if I'm ill, I just feel terrible afterwards. I'd been thinking more along the lines of material treats, such as Freda loving and knowing how to buy lovely clothes. My mother died when I was very little, so I grew up without any concept of 'girly' treats at all. I find that, now that I'm much older, and in a position to buy things for myself, I don't really know how to go about it - other than for essentials. I like the idea of Sheena's expensive haircut - but I don't think that's going to be available where I live! I supose what I'd really like to know is what do other peopole splurge on.

Ok! Well, Freda..you have us talking to each other...:-)
Linda and Sheena..if it is a purchase kind of treat, i do feel completely justified in buying myself a delightful pair of hand-made earrings now and again..., and yes to a good haircut also! Another treat would be a seeing an art or photography exhibition. Buying flowers for no reason other than because...:-)

Linda it is a fascinating topic! Flowers, a meal out in a good restaurant, good quality clothes, nice wine, a good haircut, a painting, a lovely book even theough I don't 'need' it. But the things that stop us treating ourselves well are just as interesting!

But usn't it sad that we feel that to rest when we are tired is an indulgence?

Like Linda I am not very sure what I do to treat myself well though I could get my hair cut much more cheaply. However, the cut of my hair is admired which gives me (and my Sassoon trained hairdresser) much pleasure.
The Anchor Line looks lovely and a very pleasant break in the day. Someone recommended Cote Brasserie in West Nile Street to me if you are still looking about, Freda.

I LOVE when you talk to each other here (even if Weebly mix up the replies!). You are the second person to recommend the Cote Brasserie Sheena - thank you - I will try it out. My haridresser is also Sassoon trained - so good.

Mine too! And it was the first haircut that ever made me feel happy with my wayward hair at a time when Joanna Lumley’s sleek bob was all the rage. Now she comes to our house and I don’t know what I will do if she ever gives up.

I treated myself to an expensive haircut last Saturday. I felt justified in splashing out since I hadn't been to the hairdresser's in seven months. I'm so glad I did it. A good haircut can be such a confidence booster.
