Simply..is it wrong to feel this way?

Google Elizabeth Gilbert The Wrong Emotions for a thought provoking read....(sorry I had problems with the link).

And if you have time here is another interesting read.

The New European anyone?

There is a lot of fascinating  stuff out there - it just takes a bit of finding sometimes and may not be found in the places we used to look...Thanks to interested Facebook friends for some of the above!

Thank you for the links. As you say, interesting reads. Some of our most ingrained cultural expectations need to be reexamined regularly to find out if they are, in fact, true or merely accepted truths. Too much of the political discourse these days is based on true lies.

I do agree about reexamining things, and asking what is true Mary.

hi freda...VERY interesting! two situations come to mind for me: a friend being given anti-depressants after her young son died...as though she should not feel all that grief! and another friend, who was furious with her young husband for dying in a plane crash. at the time, i was too young to understand, but we all thought she was so hard-hearted. we did not understand her anger at all. i do now. currently, my husband is very ill. when he disobeys the dr's orders, i get so mad! (wrong emotion) actually, i am probably scared, but it comes out as anger, because it is another area of his illness that i cannot control or make better. but others might think i am being mean to a sick person! time to get back to my meditation cushion. that is the only place where i can finally make sense of anything...:-)

Julia that article clearly struck a chord with you! How difficult it must be not to get angry/scared when your husband disobeys doctor's orders! Wishing you time on your meditation cushion and your husband a return to health. x

I will read the article about the 'free money' at a slower pace tomorrow as I like and agree with the out of the box thinking. Sally Weintrobe has written an interesting essay on A New Imagination elsewhere, your link seems to fit that label.
The Gilbert article I haven't found already, will try again later.

I totally agree, there is most fascinating stuff out there. It helps me seeing things in perspective, do what I can do to live lightly on this beautiful earth and prevents I sink into despair about our unravelling world.

Thank you for the Sally Weintrobe (new-to-me) mention Cath. Let us live lightly....

Freedom. A coherent comment has got lost in the myriad of thoughts I'm having about all this... Too much to say - wish there was someone in the room to discuss it with. Loved those links, so interesting - thank you Freda. Here's to feeling how we feel and the freedom to be who we really are. x

These are links to very thought-provoking articles, as you and others above have already said, Freda. I do feel this is one of the most useful parts of the internet, bringing us unlooked for ideas and opinions to mull over.
When I was younger, I felt the pressure to conform was overwhelming. To speak, act, dress and think in the same way as others. Being part of the herd is comforting and safe in so many respects but it is ultimately unsatisfying. To have thoughts which run counter to those of others surely must be the catalyst which brings creative people and thinking into the light (as long as those thoughts are not likely to seriously hurt or injure others, of course.)
I found the Elizabeth Gilbert article particularly of interest. (I found it on her Facebook page by the way, if anyone needs to know.)

I also think this is one of the best things about the internet though finding the gold among the dross can be a bit of a challenge! Elizabeth Gilbert is quite an original voice.
