Simply..it all depends....

How you start your day all depends on your own situation.

There was a point in my life when I had a huge very noisy alarm clock with two bells, sitting on top of an empty bisvuit tin to wake me. I had a full time job, was studying and bringing up two children on my won.

Only you can know what is best for you in your circumstances and with your temperament. You might start by imagining your ideal start to the day, and seeing if you can perhaps build in an element of that - work from your best case scenario and see how close to that you can manage!

I have gradualy tweaked my start to the day to set myself up to be positive, productive and happy and strong. It quite often works. Takes practice. :-)

I'm setting up July to be a super-healthy month.

Join me?

I'm a bit 'late to the party', but found everyone's comments yesterday, very useful, especially Gail's pragmatic idea of simplifying in anticipation.
In a crisis, I like the Zen saying 'chop wood, carry water', which has the sense of doing small, slow tasks well - just what's in front of one that needs doing.

Freda, usually I join you when you're embarking on a health initiative: you spur me on. But, this month, I'm going to let up on myself. So, I'm urging you on, from my position of lassitude.

July is probably a very good month for lassitude. Enjoy.

Glad you came to the party, Susan. Been 'chopping wood and carrying water ' for the past few days while a swarm of honey bees invaded my house - again. Trying to do the 'next sensible thing' instead of running round like a headless chicken.

Also following your example, Freda,, and trying to look on the bright side as I fumble round with the morning porridge oats, kettle etc. Great blog.

I have various family things that are weighing me down at the moment ( things happening to loved ones that I have no control over and can do nothing about! I’m definitely going to follow the advice shared here and in your post. I’m going to tweak my mornings so that I start my day doing things I do have control over and that make me happy, then I’m going to ‘chop wood and carry water’. It’s lovely being part of the community on here. PennyL x

We have been readying for a hurricane the last few days and now appears will hit northeast of us. So much anticipation of crisis and now appears will be none - a strange feeling of disappointment I am trying to analyze. I do a lot of overthinking. I so love the women in this blog that you have created, Freda.

How discombobulating! A challenge on a scale I can hardly imagine.
The women I meet here are a fantastic bunch. Caring and sharing. Intelligent and kind thank you for being one of them.
