We did not shop in Venice, except for food. until our last morning when I bought some Murano glass gifts and Heather bought a beautiful little bag, but do come window shopping with me - what windows! What style!

Elegance and simplicity in a quiet back street

and in front of the Gritti Palace Hotel.

Wit in the optician's window,

and charm outside a restaurant.

Stunning glass of course...

Jewellery of every kind.

Fabulous clothes.

Paints aand pigments by the jar or bag or box...

Antiques.

Those glorious colours! I keep skimming back and forth through the photos just to take it all in. Think my favourite shot is the one of the tall glass vases juxtaposed with the large forsythia display. Riveting.

What a feast for the eyes! I do love those tall, slender vases. The plant in the last shot is stunning. A calla lily?

It is a calla lily - a most perfect one outside an antique shop. I was often struck by the simplicity of the displays. I think in UK we might fuss it up with several different plants - which does have it's own charm of course, if not the panache!

I loved seeing all these windows Freda. Especially the one with the tall glass vases and forsythia... a popular choice it seems! Did you know you appear twice in that window too?!
