Welcome back, Freda! I hope you enjoyed your break. I go back to work tomorrow, masks at the ready! I plan on keeping it simple and will try to thrive rather than just survive. X

Oh good luck Grace! It's quite a challenge I find, to thrive, and bot just drift...not that your pupils would let you do that!

Good luck, Grace!

Well, I better thrive. From Thursday on, I will be overseeing my six year old grandson's virtual schooling--he has quite the schedule and I want HIM to thrive. Have rearranged my home office so that he now has his own desk (my wooden, childhood desk bought second-hand in the 1950s when we lived in the UK--if not an antique--it is close!). Set it up back to back of my current desk. Parents bought him his own laptop. He will be brought to my house each morning and I will take him home later in the afternoon, once schoolwork is done for the day. This is likely to continue through first semester (late January). School board will re-evaluate in November whether or not to try in-school instruction for the second semester. Hasn't been terribly successful in many states where school systems have tried it in recent weeks--too many cases erupting. Hoping for the best.

Well what a lovely challenge Mary! My guess is you will both thrive. I love that you still have that desk. It will be a very precious time I am sure.

Since I returned to work I do feel in survival mode more than anything but it will improve and I look forward to thriving again. Best of luck to Grace and Mary and hope your short break has helped you thrive, Freda.

Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement. We learned today that we will be doing our parents' nights on Zoom and it will only take one case of Covid for an entire yeargroup to be required to stay at home (presumably for two weeks.) Wishing you all well for the times to come.
