Simply..lobelia....

..is much underrated.

July has been about super healthy eating, and August is going to be about unclogging (decluttering).

Out with the university flies and all the garden design plans, drawings, client notes and phtographs I made over a decade or so. It's called 'identity clutter' apparently and is even harder to deal with than shoes! Any tips most welcome..

Just to let you know I plan to post just twice a week or so during August (with apologies to those of you who read the blog as part of your daily routine).

Identity decluttering … “I am not my Past” … repeated to myself when I went thru tons of photos I needed to distribute to other family members.

Well done! I shall see that to myself too.

Three cheers for lobelia as it seems to get a very bad press. I have a pot of blue lobelia and it flowers its socks off, doesn't need deadhead and hoverflies love it. I draw the line at alternating it with white alyssum though.
The phrase identity clutter is new to me but it does perfectly describe the paper trail of our lives. It is a time consuming task as each item and the associated memories are mulled over. Good luck!

Very time-consuming, but interesting to process at least some of it. And the space will be very welcome. Glad you are enjoying the lobelia too.

Good plan to post twice a week, Freda: it'll allow you some days free of the constraints of obligations (even nice ones).
I'll give thought to strategies for 'identity decluttering'.
In the first instance, I think I'd keep some small representation of the various things I've done (and maybe, achieved) in my life.

A very good idea to keep at least a token of each of the many things we have all done. I will enjoy selecting what to keep.

Agree with Sheena re lobelia, unsung hero that it is.
'Identity clutter' new to me too. I did some of this last year, disposed of what I could let go at that time & then came back to the other stuff a couple of months later. Interestingly (though I think most of you would have predicted this) I could then let go of a lot of the remainder too. I've tried to digitise as much as possible, where appropriate.
