Simply..new and beautiful....

In my early morning walk around the garden I try to look for what's new and beautiful..

Being joined by Jennie was new and beautiful in itself and made me very happy all day! She spotted the fritillary on the fox and cubs (Pilosella aurantiaca).

And there are two new orchids, very pale, almost white.

And more heath bedstraw (galium saxatile) than ever before, like fairy dust sprinkled on the grass.

I'm amazed at the number of butterflies I'm seeing. Other than the Viceroy, I don't know what they are though.

I don't know the Viceroy. We only have about five regular ones so I know them, but had to check fritillary.. So beautiful!

So pleased to have a name for those orange flowers which up to now have been rooted out of my flower beds, but which look great growing among the long grasses in my new wild area. They really look as if they belong, and the delicate, waving grass heads, which are silvery or pink, really complement them. A garden is a wonderful thing and always a new beginning.

'Fox and Cubs' is such a pretty name. I have never seen or heard of these.

They grow out of old walls here and can be a pest in some gardens (rather like foxes and cubs I suppose!).

Love that sprinkling of white! New this week in my yard a pink Jasmine is full of the daintiest flowers ( for most of the year it is just a lot of straggling stems) and a big burgundy clematis is out. Blackbird still bringing worms to the nest above the kitchen door.
