That last picture reminds me of The Outlander, a book I'm about 20 years late in reading. Claire begins her time traveling at a place that in my mind looks a lot like this. Are you sure you were only gone a week? lol!

I've not read that one! Only a week but Lewis is just over 60 miles long - not big really..

Wow, these are making me long for wild deserted beaches - I can almost 'smell' the emptiness...
Looks like you had a wonderful week. I can see the final picture is of standing stones, but the second to last photo looks like gnarled wood. Is it a close-up of weather-beaten stone?

It is indeed a close up of one of the at Callanish - 4-5000 years old.

It is as you noticed a very textural place which is probably why I chose collage to make art works after my first visit. Inspirational!
