Simply..not cancelled....

I feel for the parents of children young enough to be expecting Santa and old enough to be able to read all the Christmas Is Cancelled headlines. They must have had a lot of reassuring to do today here in uk where much tighter restrictions have been imposed.

The fact is Christmas Day is still Decemberr 25th. We have to think what kind of meaningful Christmas we can have - a thoughtful one might be nice.

It wasn't cancelled on radio 3 today. Christmas Around Europe was a delight and very moving while I wrapped gifts to get to the post tomorrow, though how I come to be doing so much at the last minute beats me! I've had all the time in the world after all....

How are your preparations going?

Let's say it will be what it will be ... I consider myself lucky to be able to spend Christmas day with my family here in France. I suspect we will be paying for this when January comes around, as the figures are not looking great ...

All done! Things are now in the lap of the winter gods and the delivery services. My Christmas reading (three new books!)turned up last week and the chicken is in the freezer. I can do no more except wish and hope that everyone gets some comfort and joy from the festival in some way.

Well the presents are bought and wrapped , just awaiting a couple more deliveries. Got up very early this morning and picked up the Turkey and vegetables this morning, back home by 8 am. Feel very grateful to have food in the freezer, so we’ll hopefully hunker down and stay at home in January. I wish everyone, a peaceful , happy, and safe Christmas and New Year.

All gifts have already been sent to family across the country or will be delivered to front porches on the 24th (to those who live nearby). Purchased all the granchildren's toys in early November, anticipating mail/delivery delays (severe here). As the viral#s have skyrocketed through November/December, also anticipated that none of us will be celebrating together.

Virtual schooling of 6yr old GS continues until the 23rd and then he will spend the night so his parents can wrap all their gifts (and have two minutes to themselves--my gift to them). Will have him help me make some mincemeat mini-pies after his classes are done. He will return here for virtual schooling again on January 4th. All in all. Ready.

Happy Christmas to all--even though circumstances aren't the best-- and good luck to everyone still needing to wrap up last minute preparations.

Thank you Mary and I hope you can have a lovely time even although you can’t be with your family this time. What a thoughtful gift to your GS’s parents! I am sure they will appreciate that.
