Simply..optimistic?

I ask too many questions don't I? :-)

According to Gretchen Rubin's Four Tendencies quiz I am a Questioner - no surprise there then!

In my book group once or twice a year instead of a book we have readings on a theme. We have had food, drink, gardens, childhood and many others, and our next one is 'optimism' as we are all feeling in need of some, what with the weather and the politics....

If you have any suggestions I'd be most grateful as would all the readers who also feel the need for some cheer, hope and lightness of heart.

Yes, all this turmoil is just churning things up to make room for new possibilities that we cannot even imagine yet. Like turning the soil so new things can grow. The surface of things has got crusty and dry and unsustainable but there are new layers of life just waiting to emerge. Who knows what will spring forth. About 5 years ago I sprinkled some poppy seeds in my border and nothing came of them... until this year when I did some serious weeding and freshened the soil and out of 'nowhere' came these beautiful large mauve poppies that I had completely forgotten about. This is a beautiful and amazing world!

Yes!! To charles eisenstein! I was privileged to take my yoga teacher training with him as a classmate in 1999, and have followed his writings ever since. He is truly a world leader and he is changing minds, one mind at a time...

I remember enjoying Enthusiasms by Bernard Levin although I think there may be some pessimism in there too!

Here's a podcast link (http://www.chookooloonks.com/podcast) to a woman whose focus in on 'Making Light'. Her backstory is really interesting (Trinidadian by birth, lawyer--non-practicing now, photographer, life coach, etc.). Some recent events over the past couple of years have tested her and her family's optimism but they have come out stronger. She also has a blog http://www.chookooloonks.com/blog. A very bright, personable and interesting woman. She has worked with Brene Brown.

Hello all, my choice might be too long to present to a group, but perhaps you will like this essay and share the link with your book group, Freda...i found it tremendously thought-provoking, and uplifting, especially in times like these where i venture to say, too many people on all sides feel they have the corner on what is true!

I’d like to suggest J B Priestley’s Delight - Little essays by the master on simple pleasures that make life fun. First published 70 years ago or so. I often buy it for friends and they love it. Food for thought.
