Owls are on my mind (see yesterday's post).

This lovely childrens' book is a great favourite with four year old Scott.

Something about the way it is written makes you read it in a very quiet voice, and when we come to the end Scott says

'Can you read it again?'

And I say
'Of course.'
- reading to children being one of my favourite things in the world.

before they suddenly flopped, as tulips are wont to do

I love reading to anyone who'll listen (!) but especially a receptive child :) - what a lovely book for bedtime; I'll be looking out for it!

That book looks delightful and it must be a pleasure re-reading it to Scott several times. Tulips and wine what more could one want!

I miss reading to my girls - we had some very memorable books - strangely the one that is the most loved was a little book called Helen Hedgehogs Party and sadly the illustrations were nothing like your lovely book above - the owl is wonderful. They also loved it when their dad read 'this is the night mail'

It's a lovely thing to do Isn't it? Alliteration, and rhythm and made up words like 'Horrakapotchin!'...they lap it up. Such a joy.
