Simply..packets of love....

I know some people have their reasons for not sending Christmas cards, but it is a small joy I am not willing to give up. I love them - choosing them, writitng them, receiving them - little packets of love and kind wishes, updates and staying in touch even if only at this one time in the year. Tiny gifts are sometimes enclosed - seeds perhaps (thank you L!) or a sachet of a bedtime tea to a friend who is having trouble sleeping, or a few glittery stars, just for fun. Sometime just saying you are remembered, I think of you.

I clear off the table, scour he house for pens which still have ink in them, find the address book and stamps and put on some Christmas music and another log on the fire. I pour a glass of wine or make a mug of hot chocolate and avoid thinking of the postal strike - they will all reach their  destinations eventually I am sure!

I love getting and sending cards! Also, in case anyone else would like this, my Christmas treat from the universe just sprang into view https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/w13xtvp7

Oh, thank you for that recommendation, Gwendoline.
And my favourite actors, as well!

I so agree! Keeping in touch with so many old friends and contacts is an important link to the past, and often it is only distance and the speed of life that makes Christmas the only common point of contact for us all.
Choosing and sending cards is caring and remembering, and the variety of cards (mainly charity fund raisers, a good cause in themselves) is a cheering sight at Christmas even for those who do nothing els in the field of Christmas decorations. Which then have a second life recycled as gift tags and bunting for the following year. A win all round. And get pleasure forever from those foxgloves!!. .

Christmas cards are a major source of funds from any charities. Win-win, definitely.

Yes , sending and receiving Christmas cards is an important part of the season for me. I think it's a shame that some folk choose to send email greetings instead . I found my collection of cards from years past was one of the hardest things to declutter and in fact I kept many of them !

I keep the previous years cards and read the messages before writing this years ones. I also keep some favourite images sometimes fitting them in clip frames in the kitchen hall and bathroom. Lovely.

Yes, echoing your friends (above), I find it warming, both writing and receiving, and enjoy re-reading and keeping those with messages in.
