Simply..people are talking....

..about light. Over at Cornflower Books Karen is talking about writers with a light touch, and Lotta is talking about intense light here.

My favourite light in the garden is in late afternoon/early evening. When you turn the corner of the house to the front garden on a sunny day like yesterday, you are flooded with golden light. It makes me gasp every time! The very air is golden.

With the day's work usually done I can relax and savour the beauty of it all.

When do you relax? I am assuming you do relax?!

(If not, how can you fit in some time to relax today?)

When do I relax? In the evenings, after work, lying on the rug, cuddling with my cats. They are very considerate cuddlers, gently purring. I put off having cats again for far too long, but now, in my fifites. After forty cat-free years, I finally decided it was time again. Best decision in a long time, maybe ever. Inner peace regained. :D

They do say pets are good for your health! A cat purring is a very telaxing sound.

well i think anyone would gasp to see a sight like your front garden, Freda! it is spectacular. i can understand why you are looking for ways to modify...it looks like it would be a lot of work to keep it looking so beautiful...relax? my middle name...hahaha..i sit on my dock and stare into space, as often as possible....:-)..art work, and even painting furniture or walls..

I love the idea of the deck and staring out over the water Julia.

What a beauty-full place your garden is. What a beautiful creation.

When do I relax? I have come to the conclusion that I need to invest
in finding my rhythm again and regain balance between doing and being. I do relax when writing, with cross stitch needlework and knitting, and with just sitting and looking.

The gentle repetition of knitting and sewing can be very soothing.

Isn't it lovely that we don't know the specific delights of a house and garden when we move in and that even years later the discoveries that brought us so much joy the first time we saw them still take our breath away? Your garden looks beautiful Freda.

I think I relax most alone in nature, before the rest of the world wakes up, or out on a walk with a camera... And then there's the sitting and staring into space like Julia and Cath - I love that too! And doing anything creative... It sounds like I'm good at relaxing, but I'm not. I have to remember, remind myself, make a conscious choice. (I can do it at the flick of a switch on holiday though!) Thanks for the link. :-)

I also have to remember sometimes = but not on holiday!

Your garden is a marvelous peace of earth, Freda.

Relax for me is in a short window after I get home until dinner time (always outside on this time of the year) and before bed with a book in my hands. I can't see the sunset due to the mountains, but the soft pink light it creates is just wonderful and magic.

Sights, sounds, reading, looking, making, there are so many lovely (and free!) ways to relax - so important to find those windows!

Just looking at your gorgeous garden makes me feel relaxed.

I tend to relax (aka collapse) after dinner. I simply go to bed, fall down and read until I can't hold my eyes open any longer.

As I mentioned to Lotta the other day...our summer weather is not conducive to relaxing unless you consider heat exhaustion a form of extreme relaxation :( Temps today again in the 90s with real feel temp of 111F. Must wait for autumn to relax outside.

You make me more grateful for our temperate climate Mary!
