Simply..playing....

Sitting down to write this post I realise I'm not. Not playing that is.

Life doesn't seem very playful at the moment - It's more plumbers and loft insulation and taking the car to the garage!

The CD player works intermittently so I'm not even playing music much

I do play with my camera.

I do play with changing things in my house

A quiet kind of play....

I found the candlesticks in the attic....

I think I could do with a bit more playing in my life, just for fun, only for fun. Laugh out loud and giggly! Like Sarah is surely having with Tavi (see here) but I don't think I want a pet...)

Wouldn't it be nice if we could go out to play like children. We used to roam all over playing in the woods, playing in the long grass before harvesting and playing in the park feeding the ducks and paddling. I agree we should definitely play more just for fun.

And we didn't feel then we had to do a litter pick while we were there (which is what I do on the beach lately!)

hi freda, i just spent the weekend at an art retreat where it was all play. we worked with encaustic wax.....it was so much fun to just let go and let the wax move with the heat and see what happened!! my "disasters" ended up in my best pieces by the end of the 2 days. yes....play is vital.

Were the candlesticks yours or a wonderful discovery? Either way, I wish my attic had such treasure in it. I'm going to play with candle making just as soon as the boring stuff is out of the way.

Ah, they are ours, though I'd lamost forgotten we had them! The loft here was empty when we came. I wish it was still empty...

Like Julia, I was playing yesterday, but with Chinese ink, inspired by Kitty Sabatier - www.kittysabatier.com - Ann M was here and we had great fun experimenting with all kinds of mark-making, ending up making circles by blowing ink bubbles!
Maybe you're missing your collages?

One of the joys of having the grandkids over is we get to play...and play & play. I let down my hair (figuratively because my hair's pretty short) & play hide & seek, trucks, color pictures, put puzzles together or just run around the basement.. I'm exhausted when they leave but what a way to spend the day.

We have had a spate of items breaking down since we moved and have shared your experience of mice moving in too! We are having fun with Tavi - we chased him around the house this morning after he had picked up one of my daughter's socks this morning! Not sure it is what one could describe as a simple life though! Sarah x
