Simply..pretty messy,,,,

I get a bit messy when I am working. I try to tidy the table when I have a break, and at the end of the day, though sometimes I am tired and just want to walk away, or go to sleep. I am sleeping much beter since I got back to work!

I'm sometimes to tired to post the blog at night and leave it till the morning....

Paper plates make good palettes. I rarely mix black and white to make a grey. Much more interesting greys can be made from the three primary clours, and wonderfully subtle neutrals.

Yellow Gate In The Snow is about the interplay of the bright yellow against the beautiful winter neutrals...quite a way to go with this.

Mixing and choosing colours is definitely work! Looking at yesterday's post I wondered whether the colour combinations in the garden help you to see what's needed on the canvas - or whether sometimes they get in the way when you're trying to find a new combination....

The garden certainly has an influence, mostly on a subliminal level I would say.

Unexpected and accidental combinations in the garden delight me, and give me new ideas.

Great to see your creative "mess"! I have been using a big white floor tile as a palette. I am learning that it can take a lot of time to find the right colour, but I really enjoy the process.

It’s endlessly fascinating to me, though I believe that tone can be more important than colour when creating form. Always learning!
