..go away!

I am trying to be positive and noticing how beautiful are the raindrops on the agapanthus,

and how pretty it is on the geranium and how it sparkles on the cornus and brings out the scent of the homeysuckle, and between showers I have enjoyed sitting on the doorstep reading The Guernsey Literary And Potato Peel Pie Society, but truly, I am fed up with rain,

Rain is forecast for the next seven days!

Needing the light on to read at my kitchen table at lunchtime in August is just wrong!

As is lighting the woodburner in the mornings!

If it's any consolation, the weather has been very unsettled and mostly grey and grim here in the Paris area since I came back in mid-July. Very disappointing ...

You got a couple of the very few good days when you visited Grace. It is disappointing.

Here in northern Brittany I have had really mixed weather - temperature fairly constant but some days grey und dull enough to make a fire to read before and others like yesterday with blue skies all day, warm sun and a lovely breeze for sitting out under a sunshade! Needless to say, the forecast has been wrong most days... However, the sunsets over the islands are marvellous (nearly) every evening 🙂
Almost embarrassed to report today is lovely again, all the more to appreciate the hydrangeas!

So mixed! I do feel lucky to be able to make the most of the good days but they have been very few. Enjoy those hydrangeas!

It is beautiful on the agapanthus, but I agree 7 consecutive days of rain in August just feels WRONG! As does making Christmas reindeer on a sunny day in August which is what I'm doing today! Maybe you need a fun 7 day challenge Freda to get you through to the next bit of good weather... x

The "pie" book is one of my favorites. I was so intrigued, I looked up Guernsy history. The characters were stoic like the "Greatest Generation usually is - no mewling and claiming victimhood like too many folks these days. I can go on and on...really like this book. I rarely read fiction and rarely keep a book after reading it; this is a keeper.

It's our book group choice and I look forward to interesting discussions on stoicism and victimhood - then and now Gail.

Can I jump in here & say that PBS had a series called Island at War. Made me think of the Pie book. Only 1 season...the writer died between seasons & no one else picked it up. I thought it was very good & would have liked it to go on.

My favorite parts were :cleverness of passing around the dead piglet and the anguishing decisions re school kids staying or going. Takes 20 pages of reading, but then you're hooked.

Today is sunny and with 23C really nice, yesterday was clouded and a humid 26C. Tomorrow we will have 20C and Friday 18C requiring I must find a cardigan, there will be rain till after the weekend.

The tree in front of our livingroom windows is slightly colouring at the edges. A lot of toadstools on a walk on Monday, autumn is approaching. Happily I love autumn.

How much longer will your agapanthus bloom? It is a beauty.

Sympathizing with you. Seventh wettest July on record in DC (9" or 226 mm - with even more in some areas). August is no different. Already more than 4" in my area with the next 6-10 days predicting the same weather pattern. Of course, more often than not, we get rain in torrential downpours from periodic thunderstorms that sometimes bring 1-2" of rain an hour with the rest of the day simply gloomy, hot and humid (real feel of 40C the other day). Looking forward to the autumn breezes and much lower humidity!
