The plants have it, but do I?

Flattened but not broken...

Heavy rain all night and 50 - 60 mph gusts of wind are dong their damage as I watch. Today is the day that all the gardeners taking part in the Open Days visit each others' gardens! At least we will be able to commiserate with each other and the winds should have reduced in strength before we meet here at 2 this afternoon.

I will go and do some baking - we can console ourselves with biscuits!

Totally disheartening!! Ihope you made some biscuits anyway...eat as many as you want! It won’t matter in the end, and it might make you feel a bit better! 😩

The photo of your poor bending trees! Hope the wind dies down soon for you all. The colours in your garden are brilliant, though.

No storm, just windier than usual and some bouts of heavy rain. Lots of the trees around here are bent from the prevailing westerlies anyway!

You have my sympathy Freda, The storm felled a large part of one of our huge ash trees just inches from the polytunnel. Have spent the day removing all but a forked section too heavy to lift,that is dangling over a 2year old apple tree.Down but not out indeed! Some days are more about perseverance than paradise moments ! Hope you clear up goes well pre open day.

That sounds like a lot of hard wotk but I'm glad the polytunnel and apple tree were spared. Perseverance definitely required!

What terrible timing it has been... A month's weather in one go. I hope the winds have abated now Freda. The sun has just come out here and I'm frantically wafting, wafting, wafting... in your direction. And I'm with Julia on the biscuits... I think they might help with resilience...

No doubt in my mind about your - and your plants'- resilience.
The gusts of wind tearing at your beautifully tended garden must have been awful to watch though.

Hopefully weather conditions have improved by now, so that you can assess what needs to be done. I'll be crossing my fingers for a sigh of relief after you have done your rounds.

It could have been worse (I don't know that saying that ever helps really!) We will recover soon.

Ugh. So sorry to see the destructive forces of mother nature trying to wreck all your hard work. Hope that at least the winds have died down -- probably too much to expect rain to leave the forecast.
