Simply..routine....

There are 13 short posts under this category (now 14) and I have just re-read them. (See sidebar)

This one in particular holds true just now.

I see routines as a kind of scaffolding, holding me up as I rebuild myself from within.

This stormy, grey February has given me lots of time to think.

Over the next while I'll write about life after loss, living the dream, creating new dreams, having a vision, and such like....

Meanwhile, I am off to do Fly Lady's Home Blessing Hour.

Bless Fly Lady I say!

And bless you too. x

I re-read all the comments on the old blog posts and am so touched that many of you are still here all these years later, still saying interesting and supportive things as true friends do.

I clicked through to read about Flylady and her routines. I could spend a day just reading her blog! However, I think I instinctively follow some of her ideas in that I do tidy and pick up in the bedroom when I get dressed and I nearly always clear and tidy the kitchen before bed. Thursday is my shopping day so I spend some of Wednesday afternoon meal planning. You get the general drift. I’m just not rule bound about it.
Today has dawned much brighter here so that has lifted my mood. I might even take a peek into the sodden garden later.

She's very much about common sense isn't she. My garden has puddles where there have never been puddles before.

You are a renown visual artist
However,
The way you have with words shows that you are a word artist too. Sometimes your posts are poetry like “ I see routines as a kind of scaffolding, holding me up as I rebuild myself from within.”

Good morning, Freda. How fortunate it is that you had already done so much preparation and practice in simplicity, and clarification, before Barry died. It’s been tremendously hard to adjust to his absence, but like you say, you have scaffolding. And a vision of a new you and a new life is emerging. You have been our biggest inspiration, as we also travel the road of life...each with our own triumphs, and sorrows. Bless fly lady, and all who have inspired you ..and bless you too!

Julia says it far better than I -- so I will piggy-back on her. And don't we all tend to do that with each other on here? Lift each other up as needed? A scaffolding you provide for us, too. xo

Routine is an essential element in my life especially in grey times of life /year. Have just spent an afternoon decluttering an assortment of leather handbags that had been long forgotten and stored in an little used cupboard. To my horror everyone had grown mould!!! Don't tell Flylady! (I made the mistake of signing up for her emails....talk about overload)

Shame about the bags. I did that too once and unsubscribed again very quickly!

I’ve found routine extremely helpful too in difficult times. For me it provides a sense of familiarity and normality which is missing when life turns upside down. Also a sense of ownership over one’s own life rather than being at the mercy of things. I’ve never been able to get on board with Fly Lady though! But I’m delighted she has been so helpful for you. x
