Simply..seeking..what?

I found myself seeking respite from the unremitting negativity of the news (apart from the item that showed life in Wuhan is almost back to normal!) and I checked out blogs by a few people I have read in the past.

Here is Gretchen Rubin on dealing with the uncertainty of holiday plans. Susanna Conway ponders how, as an introvert, she realises how important other people and being out of the house is to her. Cheryl Richardson's post Becoming a Good Creature and the photographs of adorable puppies my friend Lynne keeps sending me, made me aware of how much having someone or something to care for makes us happier. I enjoyed this HARDtalk podcast from the BBC World Service for its bigger picture take on the current situation from historian Peter Frankopan.

Can you recommend any blogs/podcasts/articles/programmes?

I recommend the Down to Earth blog. Rhonda links to some interesting articles and videos . Whilst I’m here, thank you for yesterday’s post, which I pondered over all day! I’m waiting to have my gallbladder out on November 11th, and have felt in limbo with the uncertainties of Covid and a husband who is a teacher, and with being very careful what I eat in an effort to avoid another attack of pancreatitis! Your post has made me decide to reframe my thoughts and see how much I can enjoy the next fortnight instead. We leant for a bracing walk yesterday afternoon and lit the fire on our return. I woke up to a complete arc of a rainbow this morning. It’s started well :-)

What a wonderful decision to make! After all you will never live this fortnight again....I hope the day just got better and better and I will be thinking of you on Nov 11.

i wish i could. several of the blogs i went to for inspiration or just to feel good are either no longer posting or posting so irregularly they're hard to follow. is it covid fatigue or something else? hoping some of the commenters here will give me some ideas.

I think Covid fatigue is a very real thing.

Thank you for those recommendations, Freda.

I'm particularly interested to listen to the HardTalk episode, which is a series that I've enjoyed when I encounter it, yet not sort out. I will do.
This episode sounds similar to the way things are tackled on the Radio 4 programme The Long View, where things are looked at in the context of a long time span.
For respite and general loveliness, I recommend Gardens, Weeds & Words podcast. I do like how the podcast includes the sound of pruning and clipping. Andrew also has a lovely instagram site.

Thanks for the suggestion of The Long View - I like seeing the bigger picture on issues. Your phrase 'general loveliness' makes me want to visit that site!

Looking forward to going through your suggestions and it is always good to find new voices. I listen to Fresh from the Pod a podcast hosted by Tamsin Westhorpe. They are interviews which are garden oriented but she is very much a hands on gardener with a good sense of humour.
I also find lots of interesting things on BBC Sounds. Gosh, aren't we lucky to have so much entertainment at the press of a button.
