....and quite well behaved, as clematis go. Just like me then. Also described as ladylike! I give you clematis 'Freda'.

It grows to about 12 feet and the leaves are tinged with bronze. Another favourite is Elizabeth for it's vanilla scent, though it is much more vigorous. It is growing wonderfully on the back (?) of the shed (what were we thinking?)

It also looks pretty from inside. I am so thrilled to have bluebells in the wood visible from the study window.

Have you noticed that everything seems to be flowering wonderfully this year?

The daffodils seemed to last forever this year. Here in the deep south (Dorset!) we have had daffodils on the edge of the village in flower from December until about three weeks ago! The magnolia lasted much longer too. It has been a beautiful Spring for flowers, most definately Freda. Pennyx

Gorgeous flowers. Well-named. We've had almost continuous rainy days throughout May -- one period of 14 days straight. Only a couple of days of sunshine and cooler than normal temps. A very strange weather pattern for us. Blooms here were late coming in and sort of overwhelmed by the weather (azaleas looked terrible and faded fast)--not quite the pretty display you have in your yard. So I thank you for your photos.

Until today I think we may have had 14 days without rain! Unusual here. I hope your weather improves - it does affect how you feel doesn't it.

'Freda' is beautiful and what a lovely view from the inside! Is this the flower you were thinking about naming after you? (I though it was a rose...)

What a lovely view from your study Freda. There's a wonderfully scented clematis just up the road from me, intertwined with the most beautiful wisteria on a neighbour's stone wall. I keep going up there to sniff them!

Envy you the view of bluebells. The view from your study looks gorgeous. Was pleased to see how my yard had blossomed while I had been away, but think it is very ready for a makeover!

How could I not like the ladylike, quite well behaved clematis..

At the same time I am wondering what stories the stones on your windowsill are telling. I have an Irish 'bleeding' stone on my windowsill, am looking at it often, hoping one day it will unfold it's mythical history to me. I trust it will if I am patient enough to wait for it.

The stones and feathers are Barry's so perhaps their stories will remain a mystery now. I am wondering what in Irish 'bleeding' stone is..

It comes from water containing so much iron that stones in it bleed red when you pick them up. An Irish friend gave it to me a few years ago.
