Warm, relaxing, scented air. A cushion, a cup of coffee. A wonderful concert on Radio 3.

Rain tomorrow they say, so I enjoy it while I can.

I have everything I want except my husband.

I'm so sorry Freda that you have no one to share that beautiful experience with.
It was my first thought before I’d read your text.
You seem to be moving on amazingly well most of the time but it's a tribute to your marriage that there's an ache when you can't share special moments.

It's not the same of course but I love that I can share it here Sue, with such understanding people.

Dear Freda ,sending you love and thanks for sharing your beautiful summer evening.
May I share a comment from a wise friend?
Occasionally , weep deeply over the life you hoped would be . Grieve the losses. Then wash your face and embrace the life you have. .....
You do that so beautifully and bravely.

Mary, your words are so hugely comforting. Bless your wise friend, and you for sharing...Freda..your truthfulness with us invites us to accept our own losses too. Thank you.

Julia it seems false not to mention this part of my life here - but just occasionally. Accepting is so hard isn't it.

The beauty of the evening was so evocative you couldn't you help but remember Barry--dearly loved and so greatly missed. Thinking of you. xo

The apprenticeship to grief is a difficult task. Enduring the grief, doing it's hard work, has enabled you to place kind, leading, gentle candles in your life and on your doorstep.
They do not take away the sorrow that has become the ground of your being since Barry, the love of your life passed away, they pay attention to the simple joyful moments in life. That is hard won wisdom.

And now I stretch my arms to hug you, over time and space.
