..for sharing your thoughts and insights on Kondoing over the months!

I have so enjoyed your company and your conversation on this journey. It has helped me along to know, through your comments that you were having fun with it/finding it difficult/getting stuck at times/flying through it/plodding on doggedly - whatever.

Each time I look at the book I find something I had not noticed before and this evening I came across -

The question of what you want to own is actually the question of how you want to live your life.

I feel I know myself (and some of you) better for having done this work. There have been some quite profound changes - not bad for a book about tidying!

Hurrah for Marie Kondo!

It is still an ongoing thing for me. As we are re-decorating everything has been boxed and is out of sight out of mind - when we have finished I shall have to decide if everything in the boxes deserves a place - I think probably not.

Your comment about whether or not everything will have a place reminds me of miss minimalist's way of decluttering. Everything gets taken out of a drawer, a closet, a room & only what you really, truly want goes back. Every thing else goes out the door, trash or Goodwill. I like having a variety of ways to chose from when I declutter...keeps it interesting and fresh.

and of course, there is my own favorite way of decluttering....move!...(preferably to a smaller house)
each item has to find a perfect place in the new home or out it goes....:-)

Good quote. That may need to go on a post it note to remind me daily of the path I'm on.

To Julia and Cathy
Is this a method you have used often Julia? I have lived in 17 houses in my life. A nice reminder that it's not really about stuff Cathy!

Hi Freda,

yes, great quote. I saw the reality of it a couple of years ago. I was dating a fabulous woman and visited her home for the first time. There was so much 'stuff' in the living room, most of it 'technology' stuff. Too many videos and DVDs, too much clutter, the kitchen almost non-functional because there were so many appliances in the cupboards there was no where to store the food.

I did not want to live like that! Needless to say, it didn't last. Perhaps on dating sites the hopeful should submit photos of their living spaces rather than of themselves - I think we would see a more honest view of who they are.
